2009 ENERGY STAR® LEADERSHIP IN HOUSING AWARD

2009 ENERGY STAR® LEADERSHIP IN HOUSING AWARD New Tradition Homes earns award for building new homes that protect the environment through energy efficiency

Vancouver, WA – New Tradition Homes is pleased to announce that it has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with a 2009 ENERGY STAR Leadership in Housing Award. This award recognizes the important contribution New Tradition Homes has made to energy-efficient construction and environmental protection by building more than 139 ENERGY STAR qualified homes last year. Collectively, these homes will save our customers approximately $62,133 on utility bills each year.

The environmental benefits of these ENERGY STAR qualified homes are equal to the equivalent of:
• Eliminating the emissions from 68 vehicles;
• Saving 411,996 lbs of coal;
• Planting 113 acres of trees; or
• Saving the environment 808,007 pounds of CO2 per year.

To earn the ENERGY STAR, a home must meet strict guidelines for energy efficiency set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. These homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built to the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC), and include additional energy-saving features that typically make them 20–30% more efficient than standard homes.

2008-2009 ENERGY STAR® Regional Builder of the Year

2008-2009 ENERGY STAR® Regional Builder of the YearFor the second year in a row, New Tradition Homes has won the most prestigious ENERGY STAR® award: Regional Builder of the Year. This award is given to only one builder in the four-state region comprising of Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Montana.

"This award is a great accomplishment which shows that we continue to be a leader in the Building Science arena, and are committed to building energy efficient, healthier, better built homes," commented Kelly Helmes, Vice President of New Tradition Homes.

Key factors that went into receiving the award were the number of ENERGY STAR® certified homes, company training, quality control standards and advanced construction methods. Not only are all New Tradition Homes ENERGY STAR® and Earth Advantage® Gold third-party certified, but the company continues to improve efficiencies in design and implement them through advanced construction techniques. Newly designed plans remove ducts from the attic and crawlspace, inserting them into the conditioned areas of the home to improve energy efficiency and increase air quality.

2007 Building Excellence Award

2007 Building Excellence AwardNew Tradition Homes Sixth Street Station in Battle Ground won the BIA 2007 Building Excellence Awards for new homes under $300,000. Winning projects were recognized for innovation, uniqueness, quality and safety.

Sixth Street Station represents an affordable product presenting varied exterior elevations in a well-designed overall master-planned community. The incorporation of green construction, energy saving features and healthier indoor air adds to the benefits to home buyers. With designed access to shopping, restaurants, office/medical offices, walking trails, park, playground, etc. right across the street, and the proximity to Main Street features, including a new skate park and community center, Sixth Street Station offers a true “green” lifestyle-type village in a smaller community setting.

Perhaps most noteworthy, however, is the collaboration with other developers, architects and designers to help create the master-planned community and integrate it into a much broader community context, increasing the livability and economic viability of Battle Ground.

“We believe that this is a better way to build homes. It is our hope that other builders will also recognize the value of bringing high quality, affordable homes that are energy-efficient and environmentally conscious to the market,” said Kelly Helmes, Vice President of New Tradition Homes.

initiatives
