4 Uses For Our Multigen Suites

July 19, 2021

An interesting phenomenon has developed in the past decade or so. More families have multiple generations living under one roof. In fact, according to a 2016 Pew Research Center analysis of census data, 64 million people, or 20% of the U.S. population, live with multiple generations under one roof.

That may mean older parents, or an adult child or grandchild. Or, as was the case during the pandemic, college students returned home when on-campus housing closed. Regardless of the specifics, many families are trying to figure out how to accommodate a multigenerational household, and few homes are actually designed for this type of living arrangement.

At New Tradition Homes, we’ve designed multigenerational suites in 10 of our beautiful new floor plans available throughout Vancouver and the Tri-Cities. These “multigenerational living” arrangements allow everyone to enjoy the comforts of home in their own space.

Our suites include separate living quarters with an optional private exterior entrance, a flex room living space, and a full bathroom and bedroom. There are also options for a kitchenette including cabinets, sink, and refrigerator, and for a stackable laundry area.

What is a Multi-Generational Home?

Among the many uses we’ve encountered for our multi-gen suites:

  • Apartment for older parents or a college student: Privacy and independence while maintaining closeness to the rest of family.
  • A homeschooling/homework center: A quiet place to learn and study away from the bustle of the main house.
  • At home office: The perfect spot for making and taking calls, and for working without interruptions.
  • A guest suite: Visitors or resident caregivers have a private space of their own with easy access to the main house.

Multigenerational suites are available in these floor plans: Bremerton, Cashmere, Everson, Grandview, LaCrosse, LaCrosse 2, Laurelhurst, Lewiston, Olympia, Silverton, and Whidbey.

No matter which one of our new home communities in Vancouver or the TriCities you prefer, the ideal home is waiting for you! For more information about our multigenerational suites floor plans, contact Shelley and Nick at 360-787-9352.

WE LOVE OUR HOME. From the beginning, the steps to get our home have been fun. From picking a floor plan to the day I learned how to work the fire place. Our Realtors were amazing. From Theresa Lowe that represented us to Kelly Wade who represented New Tradition and their ability to work together. We would recommend New Tradition homes to anyone who wishes to have a home built.
