Featured Employee: Meet Jerai!

At New Tradition Homes, we’re always thankful for our talented, hardworking, and kind team members who come together to create houses that become homes. Today, we’re especially excited to introduce you to Jerai Laird, our incredible design studio manager, who works closely with every homeowner to choose the perfect options for their home. With her expert knowledge and personalized service, Jerai makes it easy and enjoyable to bring your dream home to life! 

What’s your relationship with New Tradition Homes? What do you love most about working here?

I am the design studio manager at New Tradition Homes, which is a third-generation, family-owned, and family-run company. What I love most is that they are a family dedicated to the homebuilding industry, with a passion for craftsmanship and building strong relationships with our trade partners. We truly have the best trade partners building homes with us!

Where did you grow up? Tell us about your family!

My mom is from Italy and lived all over Europe, and my dad grew up in a tiny cowboy town in Oregon on a cattle ranch. They raised my sister and me in Beaverton, OR and we were very lucky to be raised with family, friends, music, cooking, and a lot of love.

How do you spend your free time? What do you do to relax?

My free time is spent chasing after my 2-year-old and 4-year-old. 😊  If I’m lucky, I will squeeze in a 30-minute Pilates session or go on a beautiful hike. But if I am not working, I want to be hanging with family and friends.

What do you wish other people knew about New Tradition Homes?

That we do this for a living but we also truly do this to improve the quality of people’s lives. We want our homeowners to start their best chapter when they build with us, and we are honored to be a part of such a life-changing decision.

What would someone be surprised to know about you?

I survived a plane crash when I was 4 with my dad and uncle in a little propeller plane. We were all lucky to survive that crash!

Tell us about someone you admire.

Every single parent out there who is juggling virtual learning for their kids and maintaining a career during the pandemic!

What is your favorite place of all the places you’ve traveled?

I’ve been lucky to travel to many different cities and countries, but my favorite place ever is the North Shore of Lake Tahoe.

What’s your favorite book and why?

The Shanghai Girls and Dreams of Joy by Lisa See. Lisa See is such an incredible writer/novelist. She writes in alternating first-person perspectives and takes you on a journey with her stories.
