First Steps To Homeownership

August 23, 2021

Searching for a new home can be so exciting. It can also be a little daunting. Never fear… New Tradition Homes has years of experience helping new home buyers make their dream home a reality.

The first step is figuring out what you want, what you can afford, and where you want to live. Here are a few things you need to do when starting your search for a new home.

Steps to Buying a New Construction Home

  • Financing/Mortgage Pre-Approval

Before you start house hunting, get your financing in place. In fact, you should have it all in order before you do anything else. Have a mortgage pre-approval before you do anything. (How else will you know how much you can afford? Which, by the way, shouldn’t be more than a third of your gross income.)

  • Where Do You Want To Live

What are your lifestyle requirements? First and foremost, consider the neighborhood culture, the length of your commute to work, and the quality of the schools. Then factor in access to services, shopping, entertainment, medical facilities, and public transportation.

  • Style Of Home

Think about how you will live in your home. One or two stories? How many bedrooms? Do you need play space for children? An oversized garage for recreational vehicles? Outdoor entertainment space? What kind of architecture do you prefer?

  • Join Interest Lists/Take Home Tours

When you’re ready to start looking at real homes in real communities, get your name on interest lists for the communities you like. If possible, take as many home tours as you can. The more homes you see, the better you’ll know what you like.

If you are ready to make  a move to the Vancouver or Tri-Cities area, we have a variety of new homes for sale and communities to fit your needs! For more information, contact our Online Sales Counselors, Shelley and Nick at 360-787-9352.

Quality of build, and energy efficiency. Their post build home warranty program is terrific, and the people treat you like family! Wouldn't change a thing.
